Man, grandson drown in river
A 62-year-old man and his grandson drowned while bathing in the Cauvery river at Mayapuram in the district, police said today.
The incident occurred last evening.
The man saw his nine-year-old son struggling in the water and tried to save him, police said.
On seeing this, his granddaughter raised an alarm and people nearby tried to save the two, but in vain.
The bodies have been recovered, police added.
