Mahesh Bhardwaj (28), a resident of Desu colony, extorted cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 35 lakh from his girlfriend in absence of her parents, police said.
On the basis of a complaint by Ramakant Aggrawal, the accused was arrested from his residence, they said.
"During the interrogation, the accused revealed that he wanted to purchase a BMW car," said P Karunakaran, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South-West Delhi.
"Police have recovered Rs 22,000 cash, 2 diamond set worth Rs 23 lakh, and gold items including 3 chain, two bajuband, a pendent, mangal sutara and a ginni along with a silver chhlah and a diamond necklace," he said.
