A 20-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly killing a 35-year-old worker inside a shop in Mumbra in Thane district during robbery last week, police said.
The victim, identified as Girijesh Gautam who was sleeping inside the shop which supplies construction material, was found killed with a hammer on July 23 night while Rs 1.50 lakh cash kept inside the cupboard was found stolen.
Crime Branch officials probing the case arrested the accused, identified as Mohammad Usman Gani Abdul Samar Shaikh, after tracking him down to Taloja in Navi Mumbai.
Officials said Shaikh has many cases of petty thefts pending against him.
A case of murder and robbery was registered by Mumbra police.
