A 20-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating his 17-year-old girlfriend, police said today.
The accused, identified as Pravin Narawade, was allegedly in relationship with the girl for the last five years during which he established physical relations with her, a police official said.
The incident came to light a few days ago when the victim's mother took her to Rajwadi Hospital in suburban Ghatkopar for a medical check up, when she found that her daughter was five-month pregnant.
As the victim is minor, the doctors informed the police who booked the man and arrested him on July 22, the official said.
A case has been registered at Mankhurd police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act.
The accused was remanded to judicial custody by a court today.
