The accused, identified as Anwar, is the father of the victim child's friend.
Hanumanganj Police Station in-charge Sudesh Tiwari said the incident occurred last evening when the boy visited the house of his friend in his neighbourhood in Quazi Camp area.
He said the accused allegedly locked the boy in a room and sexually assaulted him.
After the boy returned his home, he narrated the incident to his father who in turn approached the police.
Anwar has been booked under section 377 (Unnatural offences) of the IPC and under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
