Thangaraj, who was travelling by a bus, attempted to escape when a team of forest personnel on a routine patrol started checking the vehicle at Perumpallam in Kemmanaickkenpalayam forest area last night, Forest Ranger Johnson said today.
However, the forest personnel managed to nab him and a search of him yielded the deer hide, country-made gun and gun powder, he said.
He allegedly admitted to forest personnel that he came to the locality for hunting.
