The deceased's son, Gopal, told police that he was sleeping with his wife Lata and four-year-old son on the ground floor while his parents were sleeping in a gallery on the first floor of their home when the incident occurred last night.
While the larger portions of the crumbling wall fell on his sleeping parents, Gopal, Lata and their son were hit by falling bricks.
The neighbours rushed them to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where Gopal's father, Ram Prasad, was declared brought dead.
The builder has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder as well as negligent conduct with respect to pulling down or repairing buildings.
