The incident took place last night when Daulat Ram (32) attacked his mother Chhaya with a brick in an inebriated state. When his father tried to defend her, he was hit with a spade that killed him on the spot, they said.
Ram tried to escape after the incident but was caught by the villagers and handed over to police.
Chhaya was stated to be critically injured, police said, adding investigation was underway.
