A man allegedly killed his 10-year-old daughter by slitting her throat in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, police said today.
The accused, Sania Dehuri (42), allegedly had a tiff with his wife over a trivial issue late last night following which he dragged his minor daughter to a room in a fit of rage, police said.
Dehuri bolted the door from inside and then slit her throat with a sharp weapon, while his wife and minor son escaped, they said.
After being informed about the incident by villagers, police rushed to the site and recovered the body of the girl, Phulasari, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Baripada, Abhimanyu Nayak said.
The accused has been arrested and the girl's body has been sent for post-mortem, the SDPO said adding further investigation was in progress.
