A 62-year-old woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her son at their house in southwest Delhi's Palam area today following an argument over her belief in black magic, police said.
An FIR has been registered against the suspect and he has been taken into custody, they said.
According to the police, the deceased lady, Premlata, believed in black magic and would often call 'tantriks' (occultists) home, which enraged her 42-year-old son and his wife.
Her son and his wife had tried to explain to Premlata about how such things did not exist, but she would turn a deaf ear to their advice.
The son allegedly stabbed his mother in the stomach with a vegetable knife after one such argument today, police said.
Alarmed by the woman's cries, the neighbours alerted the police.
After the police arrived, the injured woman was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
Premlata's husband had passed away a few years back. She was staying with her son, his wife and their two children at Lal Bahadur Shastri Nagar. Her son was working as an operator with a private company at the Delhi Airport, police added.
