A man allegedly stabbed his wife to death in Bhangel here on the suspicion that she was having an extra-marital affair, police said today.
He later confessed to his crime and surrendered himself before the police.
Brij Mishra, who works at an export company here, stabbed his wife Anjali to death last night, they said.
He surrendered today after his neighbours informed police about the murder.
"Brijesh was in an inebriated condition and on suspicion of illicit relation, he killed his wife Anjali last night. He has confessed to have killed her," DSP Raj Kumar Mishra said.
Brij got married to Anjali four years ago and the couple have a two-and-a-half-year-old son, police said.
Anjali, who was nurse at a private hospital, was found dead in her room by neighbours, who informed the police, they said.
The body had stab wounds.
Later her husband Brijesh reached the police station and said that he killed her.
He said an argument had taken place between the two last night. He then took a knife and stabbed her to death in a fit of anger, police said, adding that the knife has been found.
The argument started while Anjali was watching movie on laptop. Brijesh suspected that Anjali was having an illicit relationship and thought that she was chatting with the man online on the pretext of watching movie.
Brijesh was Anjali's second husband.
