Navjawan Sangharsh Morcha MLA and former minister Bhanu Pratap Sahi today urged the Jharkhand government to initiate steps for opening of Japla Cement factory in Palamau, which was closed years ago.
Speaking against the Motion of Thanks on Governor's speech in the state Assembly, Sahi said the government should also take steps in opening Bhavnathpur Power Plant.
Claiming drought-prone Palamau district endured the worst calamity after Odisha's Kalahandi, Sahi said the state government should outline funds in the main budget in March for its development, including water availability.
Congress MLA Manoj Yadav said beneficiaries under old age pension were still waiting for payment even after filling up forms a year ago.
Yadav also asked the government to underline budgetary provision under "Swachch Bharat Mission" to keep the environment clean in blocks which have taken shape like towns.
In her speech against the motion, Jai Bharat Samanta party MLA Gita Koda raised the issue of 'retrenchment' of about 800 labour force from iron ore mines following their closure.
On a point of information, BJP MLA Jaiprakash Singh Bhokta informed the House that 'torch light' was used to facilitate sterilization process when 40 women came for family planning in Chatra recently.
