Gaurav was serving in jail after being convicted in a drug smuggling case, they said.
He was recently released from jail on parole for 45 days, they added.
Gaurav's brother said that yesterday his parole had ended and he had said that he will return to the prison on his own.
But he did not do so and instead committed suicide today, said the police, adding that they are investigating the incident.
