According to a senior police official, the locals spotted an abandoned trunk with a foul smell emanating from it following which they reported the matter to the police around 7 AM.
A police team reached the spot at Balveer Vihar area in outer Delhi and broke open the steel trunk, discovering that a man was stuffed inside the container, the official said.
"The man has not yet been identified. His hands and legs were were tied up with a piece of cloth. The only external injury mark on the body is a strangulation mark on the neck. The foul smell made the locals suspicious," a senior police official said.
The official added that the postmortem will be conducted once his identity is established.
