The District Sessions Court has also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him yesterday.
The victim's mother had lodged an FIR against Jai Sunani (50), resident of Udia of Talvandi in Jawahar Nagar police station here on February 28 last year.
The accused lured her daughter on the pretext of giving toffee and took her to a near by area where he raped her, she complained, adding when the by passers heard the screams of the girl, they reached the spot but the accused managed to flee from the scene.
After hearing the case for a year, District Sessions Court Magistrate Gangaram Mulchandani sentenced Sunani for 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000.
