Additional Session Judge Debasis Rout awarded 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 after convicting Harihar Majhi for raping a girl.
Majhi will serve an additional one-year imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.
According to prosecution, Majhi, who belongs to Kaduani village in Nilagiri sub-division, on August 13, 2016 took a girl of his village to a nearby place for discussing about their marriage, but he raped her instead.
A complaint was lodged by the victim's family in a local police station and the accused was arrested.
