The prosecution case was that the man lured the girl, his neighbour, to his home when her parents were away at work by giving her sweets and then raped her on April 8 2013.
When the parents, who are casual labourers returned, they found her crying
They then filed a complaint at the all women's police station at Sankaraipachampatty and the man was arrested the next day.
When the case came up today, Mahila court judge R Vijayakumari sentenced the man to seven years RI and also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
