The Fifth Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court yesterday convicted Polepally Ruben for brutally murdering his 12-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son after he suspected the character of his wife who frequently used to speak to "unknown" persons over phone, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Panjagutta Division) M Venkateshwarlu said in a release today.
The court also slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 on the convict.
On February 24, 2012 after Ruben's wife went to Nalgonda town by leaving her two children with him at their house here, Ruben hatched a plan to kill his children, the ACP said.
Subsequently, a case was registered under sections 302 and 498 (A) of IPC at SR Nagar Police Station.
During the course of investigation, Ruben was arrested and sent to jail and a charge-sheet filed in April 2012.
