The man identified as Kamirul Islam, a resident of Bilasipara in Assam was shot at allegedly by the miscreants near Komila Bagan village when he refused to pay them money yesterday, the police said.
Some people found Islam lying on the road and took him to the Patalgittim primary health centre, Superintendent of Police of South Garo Hills, Abraham T Sangma said.
Islam was later transferred to Guwahati by his family members today.
