A man allegedly shot dead his son in East Delhi's Mandawli area over a quarrel between his wife and daughter-in-law today, police said.
Ganesh Prasad Shukla (68) shot his 38-year-old son Mahendra with his double-barreled gun this morning, said a senior police officer.
"Mahendra's wife got into an argument with her mother-in-law. She called up Mahendra and asked him to return home from office. After reaching home, Mahendra started shouting at his parents. This angered Ganesh who hit his daughter-in-law with a stick and shot his son in the chest," said the officer.
Neighbours rushed to the house after hearing the gunshots and took Mahendra to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Amid all this, Ganesh ran away leaving behind the gun, police said. "A case has been registered under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC against Ganesh who is on the run," the officer said.
