Man strangulates girlfriend suspecting illicit relationship

A woman was strangled to death allegedly by her boyfriend who suspected her to be involved in an illicit relationship with another man in the district, police said today.
Prakash Rundala (25) allegedly murdered Ramanjot Kaur on July 10 at her flat here, because a man had stayed with the woman there the previous night, police said.
"Initial investigation revealed that a quarrel broke out between the two after Rundala came to know that a man had stayed with the woman at her flat.
"The quarrel turned ugly and he strangulated her with a laptop charger wire," the police said.

The woman, a resident of Punjab, was staying in the flat with her brother who was not present there the day the crime was committed.
The accused allegedly locked the flat and also took away with him Rs 29,000, police said.
He was arrested from his native place in Sikar district today, they said.
