A two-year-old boy was killed allegedly after his father in a fit of rage threw a stone at him when he was playing with his siblings near a railway crossing in Slem Tabri locality here, police said today.

Chotey Lal (42) last evening saw that his four children were playing near the railway track and in a fit of rage, he started throwing stones on them.

His three daughters ran away, but a stone hit his son Moti's head and he died on the spot, police said.

According to eyewitnesses, when the accused came to know that his son died he tried to commit suicide by jumping before a running train.

But his neighbours caught hold of him and informed the police.

He along with the members of his family are living in the nearby slums, police said.

A case of murder was registered against Lal and he was arrested, the police added.
