Alleging that the UP government was shielding murderers of his son killed in an alleged fake encounter in 2007, a man has said he will challenge in court the state's decision of not allowing CBI to prosecute Lucknow SSP J Ravindra Goud, an accused in the case.
Goud, an IPS officer, is among the 11 policemen accused in the fake encounter of a businessman Mukul Gupta in Bareilly.
The Allahabad High Court had ordered a CBI inquiry into the killing.
Mukul's father Vijendra Gupta told PTI that by denying permission to prosecute Goud, the government has proved that its priority was to save killers.
He said he will challenge the government's decision in the High Court and if needed, will even move to Supreme Court.
Mukul, as police claimed, was going for a bank robbery with an accomplice Pankaj Singh when he was shot dead on the Bareilly-Delhi road on June 30, 2007.
His family had moved to Allahabad High Court against the killing, on which the court had ordered a CBI inquiry into the matter.
In 2011, the CBI lodged an FIR in the case against 11 policemen, including Goud.
CBI had sought Uttar Pradesh government's permission to prosecute Goud in 2012, which was refused by the government on October 24 this year.
