Man tried to commit suicide at operation theatre

A suspected mentally challenged man allegedly tried to commit suicide after barging into an operation theatre at Government Rajaji Hospital here, causing panic among doctors, paramedical staffs and the public for some time, officials said today.
According to the officials, the man picked up a quarrel with those present at the operation theatre, broke the window and slit his throat with one of the glass pieces. People near the theatre then started running in fear.
But the man fainted and was rushed to the emergency ward, where his condition was stated to be stable, they said.
Officials said they were investigating how the man managed to get past the security guards at the hospital.
