According to the police, Surinder Singh (30), a resident of Barnala, Punjab, was arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police on Monday near Hyatt Regency Hotel after a trap was laid for him.
Four passports, one laptop and five mobile phones have been recovered from his possession along with fake visa and job offer letter in Toronto, Canada. Singh had demanded a total of Rs 4.5 lakh in return for a job in Canada and had already received 62,000 from his target, police said.
"The complainant also told us that Singh lured him by conveying that he has been shortlisted for a job in Hilton Garden Inn in Toronto for a handsome salary of 2000 Canadian dollars per month and sent him a scanned copy of fake job offer letter embossed with Visa of Canada," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
