A man who had escaped from police custody in 2014, have been arrested from Mumbai along with his two brothers who had helped him flee, Delhi Police said today.
Gaurav Sethi, who was declared a proclaimed offender in two cases, was arrested along with Vikram and Manish Sethi, who had allegedly helped him escape from police custody in July, 2014, they said.
Gaurav had produced two Punjabi films in 2008 and 2011 and used to run casinos in Goa, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
He was wanted in connection with 13 cases, out of which 12 are of cheating and forgery. He was arrested in 2014 in a cheating case and while being escorted to Tihar Jail, Manish and Vikram helped him escape, police said.
"After his escape, the trio went to Chandigarh. From there they went to Mumbai and were living under fictitious identities. He (Gaurav) again started giving loans to people on high interest," Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Yadav said.
"The trio could not be arrested as they kept changing their location and identities," he said, adding on the basis of a specific information, the three brothers were arrested from Mumbai where they were residing with their families under fictitious identity.
In 2003, Gaurav had opened an office in Rohini here in the name of G S Builder and started assisting the clients in getting loans from various banks, police said.
He went underground after cases were lodged against him for allegedly forging documents and taking loans on bogus properties, they said.
