For all mango lovers who want to guzzle each variety of the 'king of fruits' at one place, the time is ripe.
Dilli Haat in Janakpuri is calling everyone who has been waiting all the summer to go on a mango-eating spree.
If you wish to relish a mango, as small as a grape or as big as a papaya, the Delhi Mango Festival is the place to be at.
The two-day annual festival has come a long way from the orchards of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Its 29th edition will greet mango lovers with around 400 rare varieties of the fruit.
People from outside the city missing a Chaunsa from Himachal Pradesh or a Totapuri from Karnataka can get their hands on mangoes from across the country, starting 6 pm tomorrow.
At the festival, one can gobble up juicy mangoes anytime between 11 am to 9 pm till July 2.
Mangoes sourced from the fruit baskets of West Bengal, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh etc, including Langra, Rataul, Hussainara, Ramkela, Kesar, Fazri, Mallika, Nagin and Amrapali, will form mounds of green, yellow and bright red.
The festival also offers a package deal of fun and frolic for children. Organisers say there will be magic and cultural shows and even slogan-writing, mango-eating and mango quiz competition.
"The mango festival has evolved a lot, since its first edition in 1988. Its 29th edition will be inaugurated by Delhi Minister for Tourism Rajendra Pal Gautam at 6 pm tomorrow," one of the organisers said.
