Manipur ADGP to visit Noida over Chanam's death

Manipur government would send an additional director general of police rank officer to Noida in connection with the death of Pravish Chanam, a missing Manipuri youth whose body was cremated there as an unidentified one.
ADGP (Law and Order) Pramod Asthana would go and coordinate with UP Police to ensure that proper investigation is done by the police authorities concerned, an official statement said here today.
The officer would be studying "the circumstances leading to the death of the student (Chanam) after obtaining relevant details from the concerned police authorities of Noida," the statement said.
Chanam (22) had gone missing on September 8 while attending a musical concert at Noida. He had gone to the concert accompanied by of two his friends.
A missing report was filed by Chanam's elder brother Ravikanta on September 9 at Knowledge Park police station in Gautam Budh Nagar district of UP.
UP police have suspended two sub-inspectors and a constable for negligence in duty after they allegedly cremated the body of Chanam.
Demanding justice for Chanam, a candle light silent march was organised by his friends and relatives at Uripok locality of Imphal West district yesterday.
