Thakur, who hails from the Rohru sub-division of Shimla district, was made the working president of the Youth Congress yesterday by All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi and the notification was issued by India Youth Congress (IYC) President Amrinder Singh Raja.
Singh was elected as state Youth Congress president in 2013.
He said that he resigned from the post under the one- man-one-post formula as he has been elected as the member of the Legislative Assembly from the Shimla Rural Assembly segment.
He was elevated to the post of Youth Congress general secretary in 2009.
Thakur remained Shimla Parliamentary Youth Congress president from 2011 to 2012 and All India Youth Congress secretary from 2013 to 2015.
