Manjhi cabinet clears 23 items

Even as the stage is set for the trust vote tomorrow in Bihar, the Jitan Ram Manjhi Cabinet today met for the second consecutive day and cleared a slew of proposals, including the one for it to seek a floor test in the Assembly tomorrow.
The meeting of the Cabinet was held at the embattled chief minister's residence this evening.
The Manjhi Cabinet also okayed a proposal for providing reservation to backward and most backward classes and women in the allotment of contracts of the Road Construction Department of up to Rs 25 lakh, Principal Secretary, Cabinet Coordination, B Pradhan, told reporters here.
It also okayed the recruitment of Urdu teachers in all government universities where the subject is taught. It allowed a proposal for declaring Madhubani's famous 'Saurath Mela' (mass marriage fair) as a state event.
Altogether, 23 items pertaining to different departments were okayed during the Cabinet meet, Pradhan said.
