Manjhi took stock of the flood-related situation in Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, East Champaran and West Champaran districts and passed instructions to officials to ensure that relief items are distributed among the affected people without any discrimination.
He also asked the officials to take steps to contain spread of diseases in areas where floodwaters have receded.
The chief minister also reviewed the law and order situation of the six districts, and asked the officials to pay heed to all information and told them that any laxity on this front will not be tolerated.
He expressed displeasure on the pending Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) in the districts and directed Tirhut Commissioner Narmadeshwar Lal to review them on regular basis.
He passed instructions to renovate IAY houses built before 2004 and complete all the unfinished ones.
He also asked the officials to make a list of homeless families living in the urban areas, make a project to settle them and send it to the state government.
Manjhi also instructed the officials to take cases of land distribution to the downtrodden seriously and ensure that all the people who have been given land receipt are given possession on the land by March 2015. Disputes over such land should be probed and settled quickly.
The chief minister also said that a bridge on Gandak River will be built near Takraha block.
