BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya Wednesday alleged that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was remote-controlled by Sonia Gandhi and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi.

He also alleged that during Manmohan Singh's tenure, the economic condition of the country worsened.

"As a prime minister, Manmohan Singh was remote-controlled by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi," Vijayvargia told reporters here.

"As a prime minister, Manmohan Singh used to take decisions in which there was a possibility of benefit to some people. Under his rule, corruption worth Rs 11 lakh crore took place," the BJP leader said.

Vijayvargiya said Manmohan Singh should clarify whether he was "working under pressure of some people".

"Manmohan is an economist. But during his tenure as the PM, the economic condition of the country worsened. During his rule, inflation and fiscal deficit increased and investment in infrastructure also declined."
