Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Operations, Raju Kumar said the operation was based on intelligence inputs and the Maoist - Ram Babu Prasad - was arrested from his house at Narayanpur village under Rajepur police station limits in the district.
"We recovered a pistol, a few cartridges, Maoist literature and levy papers from Prasad. He is wanted in several cases of violence in East Champaran, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur and other districts," Kumar said.
The ASP said Prasad was in jail for some time and came out two months ago, after which he was given the task to strengthen the Maoist network and extort levy imposed by CPI(Maoist) on businessmen, contractors and commercial organisations.
