A member of the proscribed CPI (Maoist), wanted for 13 years, has been arrested from a village in Palamau district, police said Friday.
The self-styled sub-zonal commander of the outfit, identified as Mukhdev Yadav, was carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head, the police said.
A team comprising CRFP and district police personnel arrested Yadav from Dhobidih-Gulabjhari village under the jurisdiction of Chhatarpur police station on Thursday evening, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Palamau district, Inderjit Mahata said.
The Maoist was waiting for other members of his dasta (squad) at the village, the SP said.
Mahata said that 60 per cent of the reward money would be given to those who assisted the security forces to arrest the Maoist and the rest of the money would be distributed among the members of the team that arrested him.
The Bihar and the Jharkhand police were looking for the Maoist for 13 years, the SP said, adding, he was wanted in more than 18 Maoist-related incidents.
Mahata said that the Maoist was involved in various incidents such as landmine blasts, killings, encounters and blowing up peoples houses.
