A group of over 50 armed ultras stormed into the village in the wee hours on December 27 and targeted a camp in the Kudumuluguma area where residents from a nearby area who had fled due to the Naxal menace were rehabilitated, police officials said.
They abducted two men after threatening them and accusing them of helping the police. While the body of Rabi Pujari was found with his throat slit on the outskirts of the village on December 27, Nanda Galori was kept hostage by the ultras, they added.
Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said police had received information about the incident and an investigation was on.
