The incident took place in Patra village in Gajner yesterday when the man identified as Baljeet (30) refused to run away with the woman, as had been mutually planned by both of them earlier, said Pushpanjali, Superintendent of Police, Kanpur (Rural).
The woman, mother of three, was involved in a relationship with Baljeet, also her neighbour, for the past few years. Enraged by the last moment betrayed, she started beating him. Having no clue, her shocked husband witnessed the scene, standing there in utter dismay.
However, when Baljeet told police that he had never agreed to run away, the woman attacked him again.
SP Pushpanjali said the woman has not registered any complaint of rape and a Circle Officer has been engaged to probe the case. Action will be taken only if she registers any FIR against her lover, she said.
