Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare flagged off today

The sixth edition of the Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare flagged off from Orion Mall here today with as many as 95 teams across three categories embarking on a 2000km long route covering the Southern Peninsula of India.
The seven day 'motor rallying' event will cover South India's most exotic locales of Mysore, Shimoga, Chitradurga, Davangere, Bellary, Hospet, Hubli before concluding in Goa.
The event will see the largest ever participation of 160 motorsport enthusiasts in 95 vehicles across the three groups- Ultimate Car, Ultimate Bike and Time-Distance-Speed (TSD).
Explaining the popularity of Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare, Manohar Bhat, Vice President, Marketing, Maruti Suzuki, said: "Designed to motivate and encourage motorsports enthusiasts from India and abroad, Maruti Suzuki has pioneered many motorsports events across the country.
"Like wide range of cars, we have several rally formats suited for amateurs and professionals. Rallies bring out the best in man and machine. The best teams and best machines make podium finish. Historically, our cars have done well and we are proud of their consistent performance."

Interestingly, participants for Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare are chosen strictly after their vehicles clear several security tests. They will compete with each other in 3 categories across Endurance, Ultimate Bike, Ultimate Car.
The winners of rally will be felicitated at Goa, on August 10.
Besides, at least 10 Maruti Suzuki employees spread across different streams such as engineering, quality assurance and service are participating in the rally.
Maruti Suzuki has been organizing some of the world's toughest motorsport rallies such as Maruti Suzuki Raid-de-Himalaya (North India) and Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm (West India).
