Maximum restrain by forces needed in Kashmir: Lt Gen D S Hooda

Appealing the youth to maintain calm and join hands to restore normalcy in Kashmir, a top Army official today said there is need to exercise maximum restrain by the forces.
"The General Officer Commanding in Chief of the Northern Command Lt Gen D S Hooda reiterated the need to exercise maximum restraint as is being shown by the forces and continue with their positive engagement with the people to lend them all possible assistance," Defence spokesman Col S D Goswani said.
He said Hooda also made an earnest appeal to the people, especially the youth to maintain calm and join hands to restore normalcy in the Valley.
The army commander expressed his satisfaction over the synergised functioning of the entire security apparatus and stressed on the need to take necessary steps to ensure adequate domination and security of the lines of communication, so as to keep them open for the general public, Goswami said.
Hooda also stressed on the fact that free movement is necessary for providing essential services to the people, thus reducingtheir hardships.
"Northern Army Commander Lt Gen DS Hooda today reviewed the security situation in Kashmir during his visit to Awantipur-based Victor Force," the spokesman said.
He said the commander was briefed by Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Satish Dua, all the General Officers Commanding of the Line of Control formations and the Rashtriya Rifles about the current security situation in the Valley.
Hooda also reviewed the measures taken for restoring peace and normalcy in coordination with all security and other government agencies.
