The deceased was identified as T Venkata Reddy (20) native of Sivapuram village in Guntur district, said police.
He was studying in the first year of MBA at Gudlavalleru Engineering College, police said, adding, the exact reason for committing suicide is not known.
"He committed suicide by consuming pesticide near a fish tank. The tank owner saw him taking the extreme step and called emergency number 108 and informed police," they said.
Police and the emergency vehicle rushed to the spot, but the student was dead by then, said police.
