Samuel Okeke was arrested from ISBT Kashmere Gate flyover by the Crime Branch of Delhi police yesterday after it received a tip off about him.
Delhi police for the first time seized MDMA (also called Ice) in such a huge quantity, according to police.
The MDMA was concealed in a golf kit box. Besides 10 gms of cocaine powder was also seized from Samuel's possession. The narcotics were to be further sent to Malaysia.
"A trap was laid and he was apprehended at 07:45 PM. During proceedings, 400 gms of fine quality MDMA and 10 gms of cocaine powder was recovered from the possession of Samuel," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
A case under NDPS act has been registered at Crime Branch police station.
During interrogation Samuel told police that he came to India in April 2012 and started the business of exporting readymade garments to his native country, the official said.
"Prince offered him good money for facilitating the trafficking of party drugs. Three days ago on Sunday, Prince informed him that someone would come from Bangalore and hand over the golf kit box containing MDMA to him, which is to be further delivered to a fellow Nigerian," said Yadav.
MDMA is a party drug, commonly used in rave parties. It is very popular among drug addicts as it is a stimulant and generally found in crystal or powder form, he said.
