In their written complaint with Saraidhela Police Station, the 2013 batch MBBS students alleged that they were assaulted by junior residents and senior students (2008 and 2011 batches) in inebriated state during the cultural event held in the auditorium of the institute.
Saraidhela Police Station's officer in-charge Arvind Kumar confirmed having received a complaint from some MBBS girl students of PMCH.
According to the FIR, when the girl students protested, the senior students allegedly used filthy language and brandished their belts in presence of teachers.
"We did not expect that senior students would behave like this in the presence of senior teachers and doctors of the college," a girl student said.
When the college administration "failed" to take any action after a formal complaint was made, the girls, led by hostel warden Leena Singh, lodged a police complaint.
The warden claimed that initially, police officers refused to receive a complaint. After this they met Senior Superintendent of Police Manoj Ratan Chauthe, who ordered the police station to accept the complaint.
