Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Union Minister J P Nadda will inaugurate the Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College on March 15, this was informed in a meeting of Medical Education and Research Department held under the Chairmanship of the Khattar here today.
The medical college will have 100 MBBS seats and a new state-of-the-art 500 bedded hospital, an official release said.
The existing 200-bed District Hospital in Karnal has been upgraded to 300-bed and is attached to the medical college.
Also, to improve patient care, two life support ambulances and two general ambulances would be purchased.
Besides, for the convenience of general public, the existing hospital road is being widened to make it 4-lane, the meeting was informed.
The chief minister directed that all necessary equipments be installed before the inauguration so that the people get the health-care services from day one.
Khattar also stressed the need for setting up of trauma centres in a radius of 60-70 km to provide immediate medical aid to the critically injured patients.
It was also informed that the construction of Rs 2,000 crore National Cancer Institute with 710 beds at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS-II) at Badhsa village in Jhajjar is going on in full swing and is likely to be commissioned by July 2018.
