Medium sugar recovers on brisk festive demand

Medium sugar prices rebounded sharply at the Vashi wholesale market here today following heavy offtake by stockists and retailers amid good enquiries from upcountry buyers ahead of festivities.
Elsewhere, small sugar variety declined further owing to lack of buying support.
Medium sugar (M-30) surged by Rs 42 per quintal to finish at Rs 3,092/3,221 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 3,050/3,221.
Small sugar (S-30), however fell by Rs 18 per quintal to settle Rs 2,952/3,042 as compared to Rs 2,970/3,042 previously.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,092/3,221 (Rs 3,050/3,221).

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,952/3,042 (Rs 2,970/3,042).
