"The key objective of the conference is to disseminate information about the significance of UN certificate for the export of dangerous goods to stakeholders. IIP is the competent authority for conducting testing of bulk packages and also to issue the UN certificate for export," its Director N C Saha told reporters today.
IIP is authorised by Directorate General of Shipping and Directorate General of Civil Aviation, to undertake testing of bulk packages for the carriage of dangerous goods for export and also to issue the UN certificate.
As many as 200 packaging professionals from across the country are expected to participate in the seminar.
Over the period of next 10 years standard packaging specification for 500 commodities will be developed and IIP has already started working on standard packaging for fruit and vegetable, marine products, he added.
