Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today took stock of the situation arising out of heavy rainfall and hailstorm in the state, an official statement said here today.
Several houses and agricultural land in West Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills districts were reportedly damaged by the hail and rain that lashed the state for over two hours.
The CM spoke to the deputy commissioners of several districts to get first-hand information of the situation and asked the Disaster Management and Revenue Department to closely assess the situation.
"All possible measures will be taken to provide relief to the affected families," the chief minister said.
The weather office has warned of similar weather conditions during the weekend.
