"We have issued orders for DCs and SPs in all 11 districts to remain alert in case of an emergency arising out of the extreme weather forecast in the north-east region for the next 36 hours," State Chief secretary P Barkos O Warjri told PTI.
He said the Deputy Chief Minister R C Laloo, who is in charge of Revenue and Disaster Management department, has asked the state government officials to keep a close watch and take appropriate action to meet any eventuality.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has in its forecast said that there will be a heavy to heavy rainfall on July 3 and 4 in few isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya.
