Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar today greeted the people on the eve of Buddha Purnima and called on everyone to work for the welfare of the under privileged.
"I extend my greetings to the people on Buddha Purnima. It is an auspicious occasion to recall Lord Buddha's divine message of peace and prosperity for humanity," she said in a message.
"While celebrating the spirit of fraternity and amity that dominates this day, let us renew our pledge to strive for the welfare of all those who are less fortunate and vulnerable.
"Let Buddha Purnima this year also be observed as the celebration of the pluralistic ethos and composite culture of our great nation," she said.
