Mentally-ill mother-son duo commits suicide in Guj

A 60-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son, both of whom were mentally-unstable, allegedly committed suicide at their residence in Lalpur taluka here, police said today.
The incident took place in Mulila village of Lalpur taluka in the district, police said adding that the duo set themselves ablaze after pouring kerosene, when no other members of the family were at home.
"Both the deceased - Mata Ahir (60) and Ashok Ahir (25) were mentally unsound persons. Prima facie, it seems they were disturbed and that is why they took the extreme step. However, we are not drawing any conclusions and are exploring all angles," Lalpur Assistant Sub Inspector M N Baloch said.

"We are awaiting the postmortem report. While postmortem on one of the autopsy is over while that of another body will be undertaken tomorrow morning at the Jamnagar Civil Hospital, following which we will be in a position to tell whether it is a case of suicide or murder," Baloch said.
