Mentha oil extends losses, down 0.36 per cent

Traders trim positions amid falling demand from consuming industries

Mentha oil prices fell further by 0.36 per cent to Rs 664.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in reducing positions amidst falling demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

Besides, ample stocks position in the physical market on increased arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh too added pressure on mentha oil.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in October fell further by Rs 2.40, or 0.36 per cent to Rs 664.20 per kg in business turnover of 87 lots.

The September contract shed Rs 2.30, or 0.35 per cent to Rs 653.60 per kg in 279 lots.

Analysts said off-loading of positions by speculators due to low demand from consuming industries mainly kept pressure on mentha oil prices at futures trade.
