Mercury drops as rains lash parts of Punjab, Haryana

Light rains lashed parts of Punjab and Haryana today, leading to a slight dip in mercury at various places in both the states.
Maximum temperature in Chandigarh, which received rains this morning, dipped by a notch and settled at 31.5 degrees Celsius, the MeT department said here.
Ludhiana and Patiala in Punjab also received light showers and the mercury there settled at 31.6 and 31.9 degrees respectively, whereas Amritsar recorded a high of 32 degrees Celsius.
Rains also lashed Ambala in Haryana, where the maximum temperature settled at 30.2 degrees Celsius, down by two notches.
However, hot and humid weather prevailed in Hisar, which recorded a maximum of 36.3 degrees Celsius.
The MeT forecast said light to moderate rainfall may occur at isolated places in the region over the next two days.
